Silicon Valley of Nigeria: CcHUB Expands Lagos Office with Private Rooms for Startups

Since 2011, Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB) in Yaba, Lagos, has been the beating heart of Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. It started as a humble space where tech enthusiasts could gather, share a stable internet connection, and brainstorm.

Fast forward fifteen years, and the tech landscape in Lagos has completely transformed. To match this growth, CcHUB has announced a major expansion of its famous headquarters, introducing enclosed private offices for startups for the very first time.

For over a decade, CcHUB was strictly about the “open-plan” lifestyle. It was built on the idea that innovation happens when people bump into each other. If you were a solo founder working on a new app, you sat at a long table next to someone building a fintech platform. This setup birthed some of Nigeria’s most successful tech companies, including BudgIT and LifeBank.

But as the ecosystem grew up, so did the startups.

Today, many companies that started at those shared tables have grown into mature businesses with 10, 15, or 20 employees. These larger teams face new challenges:

• They need privacy to discuss company finances and strategy.

• They need quiet spaces for client calls and team meetings.

• They still want to be close to the tech community, but they outgrew the single-desk setup.

By adding a brand-new floor dedicated to closed, private office spaces, CcHUB is making sure these mature startups don’t have to leave the hub just because they got bigger.

While the new layout provides walls and doors, the leadership at CcHUB insists that the community spirit isn’t changing. The goal is to keep founders connected, especially during a tough economic period where tech companies need to lean on each other for support, advice, and partnership.

“Nobody comes to CcHUB for the desk; you can find a desk anywhere in Yaba,” explains Oluwasegun Ogungbemi, CcHUB’s head of community engagement. “You come because of the community.”

A Quick Look at the Upgraded CcHUB Headquarters

• The Lower Floors: Remaining true to tradition with open workspaces, hot desks, and collaboration zones for early-stage innovators and freelancers.

• The New Floor: Featuring fully enclosed, private office suites designed for established startup teams who require secure, quiet operational spaces.

• The Shared Benefit: Both groups still share the same roof, meaning younger startups can easily look up to and learn from the more experienced companies working just a floor above them.

The expansion arrives at a critical time. Right now, tech founders across Africa are dealing with a tough economy, less global funding, and changing government rules. Having a physical, supportive space where tech leaders can work side-by-side helps them survive and grow together.
