Safaricom wins top risk award from ISACA Kenya for protecting over 50 million users from online fraud and cyber attacks.

Safaricom has received a major award for its strong efforts in protecting customer money, personal details, and digital services from internet thieves and scammers. The telecom giant won the IT Risk Trailblazer Corporate Award, a special honor given by the ISACA Kenya Chapter.

ISACA is an organization made up of expert technology professionals who check how well companies protect their computer systems and manage business risks.

This recognition was announced in Kenya to praise the way Safaricom manages its day to day technology operations, stops electronic fraud, and handles risks across its massive network, especially the M-PESA mobile money platform.

Millions of people rely on mobile banking every day to send money, pay for goods, and run small businesses. Protecting these digital channels has become a big job as cyber criminals constantly look for new ways to trick people and steal money.

To make sure bad actors do not break into their systems, Safaricom has built a strong defense center that watches over all mobile transactions every second of the day and night. The company relies heavily on smart computer technology, often called artificial intelligence, to spot strange activities on accounts before any damage happens.

They also created their own special digital security tool named KingaSphere, which helps them gather threat information and stop cyber attacks before they reach regular users.

In addition to these heavy background tools, Safaricom gives everyday mobile phone users simple tools to protect their own accounts. One popular security tool is called Hakikisha, which shows the real name of the person receiving money before a transaction is completed, preventing accidental or fraudulent transfers.

The company also introduced face and fingerprint scanning options on its mobile phone software application, My OneApp. These features make it hard for thieves to log into an account even if they manage to steal a person’s phone.

According to a company statement regarding its operations, Safaricom noted that its security framework is supported by internationally certified standards and board-level governance, as it works to maintain secure and reliable digital services for more than 50 million customers across its markets. This level of supervision means top company leaders personally oversee security decisions to make sure the network remains safe for everyone.

Winning this corporate trailblazer award shows that the company is leading the way in East Africa when it comes to technology safety. By putting strong security rules in place and using advanced computer monitoring tools, Safaricom continues to prove that mobile money and digital banking can remain simple, fast, and completely safe for ordinary people who rely on mobile phones for daily business.
