Kyndryl introduced AI-powered tools that help companies automatically upgrade old computer systems and run artificial intelligence safely.

A major global technology company named Kyndryl introduced a powerful new set of digital tools on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The new offering, called Agentic Modernization services-as-software, uses smart artificial intelligence programs to help big businesses upgrade their old computer systems automatically.

Instead of requiring large teams of human engineers to spend months fixing old computer code by hand, Kyndryl’s new technology uses autonomous digital helpers, known as AI agents, to handle the heavy lifting, making IT system updates much faster, cheaper, and safer.

To understand why this launch is so important, it helps to look at how big companies run their daily operations. Many large institutions, including banks, airlines, hospitals, and retail stores, still rely on older computer equipment and legacy software built many years ago. While these old systems still work, they are very slow and difficult to connect with modern technologies.

When companies try to adopt new artificial intelligence tools, their outdated computer networks frequently slow them down or fail entirely. Recent industry surveys reveal that while seventy-seven percent of business leaders have tried using artificial intelligence across their offices, only thirty-two percent are actually getting the good results they expected, largely because their old computer hardware cannot keep up.

Kyndryl created its new service to solve this exact problem. By turning decades of human engineering knowledge into smart software workflows, the company allows artificial intelligence agents to analyze old software code, find hidden errors, design updated system layouts, and even write and test new computer code automatically.

These digital helpers work under the continuous supervision of human experts, ensuring that sensitive business records remain protected and that computer updates do not break daily office operations. The entire process runs through Kyndryl Bridge, a central computer management platform that already helps over fourteen hundred large companies keep their technology secure and organized.

Explaining why companies must change how they update their technology, Ismail Amla, Senior Vice President at Kyndryl Consult, publicly stated, “Modernization is becoming an operating discipline rather than a series of labor-intensive transformation programs that are difficult to scale and disruption-prone.

As technology innovation accelerates exponentially, organizations need to move toward continuous modernization so they can adapt faster to changing business needs.” His statement emphasizes that updating computer systems should no longer be a rare, painful chore, but a smooth and continuous part of doing business.

The new service also gives companies complete freedom over which artificial intelligence programs they choose to use. Instead of forcing businesses to buy software from just one supplier, Kyndryl’s platform allows companies to swap in new AI tools as technology improves. This flexibility ensures that businesses can protect their private operational knowledge while staying up to date with the latest technological advances without spending unnecessary money.

Highlighting how artificial intelligence is changing the way technology services are delivered to businesses, Bill Latshaw, Research Director at market research firm IDC, publicly stated, “Agentic AI is reshaping how enterprises think about modernization, moving the conversation from large, episodic transformation projects to continuous, agent-orchestrated implementations guided by human expertise.” He noted that combining automated software workflows with human oversight helps organizations update their computer networks with far greater speed and consistency.

For ordinary workers and business owners, the message behind Kyndryl’s announcement is clear: technology updates do not have to be slow, risky, or overwhelming. By putting smart AI agents to work alongside human experts, companies can fix their old computer foundations and unlock the full benefits of modern digital tools.
