Anthropic has given users a few more days to try one of its most advanced AI models at no extra cost. The company has extended free access to Claude Fable 5, but the offer won’t last forever. Here’s who qualifies, how to use it and what changes after the deadline.
Anthropic has extended free promotional access to Claude Fable 5 until July 12, 2026, after originally planning to end the offer earlier this week. The extension applies to eligible users on Pro, Max, Team and select Enterprise subscription plans.
Subscribers can continue using Claude Fable 5 at no additional cost as long as they remain within 50% of their weekly usage limits. Getting started is straightforward.
Eligible users only need to sign in to their Claude account and select Claude Fable 5 from the available model options. No separate activation or upgrade is required during the promotional period. The offer, however, comes with clear limits.
Once users reach the included usage allowance, they must purchase usage credits if they want to continue using Fable 5 before the promotion ends. The biggest change arrives after July 12.
Anthropic says Claude Fable 5 will no longer be included as part of regular subscription usage. Users who want continued access will need to pay through the company’s credit-based system until enough computing capacity becomes available to restore broader access.

The company has indicated that this arrangement is temporary. Anthropic says it intends to include Fable 5 in subscription plans again once infrastructure capacity improves, although it has not announced a specific timeline. Claude Fable 5 has attracted strong interest from developers and enterprise customers.
The model is designed for complex reasoning, coding and advanced problem-solving. Many users consider it one of Anthropic’s most capable AI systems to date. The extension also highlights a challenge facing the AI industry. Demand for the most powerful models continues to outpace available computing resources. As companies release more advanced systems, they must balance user access with the enormous cost of operating frontier AI models.
For eligible subscribers, the extension offers a valuable opportunity. They now have a few extra days to explore Claude Fable 5 without paying additional fees. After that, access becomes more selective.
The future of premium AI may depend not only on how intelligent the models become, but also on how companies manage the growing demand to use them.
