South Korea’s financial watchdog launches a 24/7 smart AI system to catch crypto price tricks and stop dishonest trading.
South Korea’s main money regulator has launched a smart, round the clock artificial intelligence watchdog to catch people who trick investors and manipulate cryptocurrency prices.
The advanced digital monitoring system continuously checks thousands of digital coins across public exchanges to spot suspicious price jumps, fake trading volumes, and bad actors.
By replacing old manual checks with smart algorithms, the financial watchdog can now catch bad behaviors instantly, such as dishonest groups pumping up coin prices before secretly selling off their funds to leave everyday buyers with heavy losses.
The technology rollout was publicly announced in Seoul on August 20, 2026, by the country’s top financial watchdog, the Financial Supervisory Service.
The official launch expands on earlier upgrades made to the agency’s Virtual Asset Trading Analysis System, known as VISTA, which previously needed human workers to spot suspicious activity manually.
Under the new upgrade, smart algorithms scan millions of trading data points every single second, helping government investigators stay ahead of fast moving digital crime across regional crypto markets.
The main reason for building this smart watchdog is that dishonesty in the crypto market has grown too fast for human eyes to track.
Bad actors frequently use automated trading bots, coordinate secret buys in private chat rooms, and spread fake news across video platforms to artificially inflate token prices.
Traditional post incident investigations usually happen long after fraudsters have already moved their illegal profits off digital platforms.

By pairing real time trade monitoring with smart text and voice analysis tools, the regulator can immediately freeze suspicious transactions and keep public crypto markets safe for normal users.
Explaining how the new technology catches sneaky market tricks across social media channels and trading platforms, official agency representatives confirmed that “AI tracks potential signs of unfair trading on YouTube and online message boards by converting video audio and subtitles into text for analysis”.
Detailing how smart algorithms automatically uncover hidden connections between dishonest accounts, regulatory reports noted that “AI analyzes account level order participation rates and trading profits to identify suspicious accounts, traces linked accounts and pinpoints periods of suspected manipulation”.
Highlighting how artificial intelligence builds investigative reports while keeping human supervisors in charge of final enforcement decisions, officials confirmed that “generative AI automatically prepares an investigative review report based on indicators used to assess potential violations,” stressing that “the final decision on whether to launch an investigation, however, remains with FSS investigators”.
By putting powerful artificial intelligence on guard duty around the clock, South Korea is setting a strong example for how nations can clean up digital asset trading.
Using smart tools to catch financial tricks in real time protects everyday families from losing their savings, making sure the digital money market stays fair, open, and trustworthy for everyone.
