Karnataka and Israel joined forces to build stronger computer defenses, train digital workers, and help tech startups fight cyber threats.
The state government of Karnataka and the Consulate General of Israel convened a major technology conference named the Karnataka Israel Cyber Dialogue in Bengaluru, India, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
The meeting brought together top government leaders, computer security experts, university researchers, and ten prominent Israeli cybersecurity companies.
The main purpose of the gathering was to create a long-term partnership that protects computer networks, trains skilled tech workers, and supports young technology companies against growing online threats across both regions.
In today’s connected world, almost every part of daily life relies on digital systems. People use mobile phones to send money, businesses store important records on cloud computers, and public institutions rely on internet networks to deliver essential services like electricity and transportation.
However, as more services move online, digital thieves and hackers are constantly searching for ways to break into computer networks to steal money, lock up important files, or disrupt public services.
By bringing together Israel’s advanced experience in computer defense and Karnataka’s vast pool of software talent, the partnership aims to create digital locks that protect critical public and private infrastructure.
The conference featured live technology demonstrations and direct business-to-business meetings, allowing local Indian technology startups to test new security tools developed by Israeli companies. Discussions focused on four main areas: helping young tech companies grow, connecting software providers with local industries, training a future ready workforce of computer experts, and creating safe policies that protect public data.
The initiative operates under Karnataka’s Global Innovation Alliance, a special program designed to connect the state’s technology capital, Bengaluru, with top innovation hubs around the world.
Highlighting why computer security is now essential for every modern economy, N Manjula, Secretary of the Department of Electronics, IT, and BT for the Government of Karnataka, publicly stated, “Cybersecurity is no longer exclusively a technology issue. It is an economic imperative, a governance priority and a fundamental requirement for building trust in the digital future.”
She emphasized that because Karnataka possesses a strong ecosystem of skilled workers, research centers, and tech companies, the state is in an ideal position to collaborate with international partners to build safe digital systems.
The partnership also builds upon local state initiatives, including the Karnataka Cyber Security Policy, which focuses on raising public awareness, supporting scientific research, and incubating new security startups through the Centre for Cybersecurity Karnataka.
Officials revealed that local teams are currently exploring the possibility of hosting major international security events in Bengaluru and collaborating on academic knowledge exchanges with top institutions like Tel Aviv University.

Emphasizing the mutual benefits of combining the strengths of both regions, Orli Weitzman, Consul General of Israel to South India, publicly stated, “When Israeli technology and experience meet India’s extraordinary talent, scale and technological capabilities, the potential impact goes far beyond our two countries.”
She added that the primary goal of the ongoing dialogue is to turn shared ideas into concrete partnerships that help companies, researchers, and government institutions build safer technology for everyone.
For everyday citizens and small business owners, the message behind this international partnership is clear and practical: as digital technology becomes a permanent part of daily life, keeping computer networks safe requires constant teamwork. By combining top security tools with local technology talent, Karnataka and Israel are working together to make sure people can work, bank, and communicate online with peace of mind.
