Deutsche Bank Partners with Thought Machine for Core Banking Overhaul

Deutsche Bank has partnered with cloud-native core banking technology provider Thought Machine to modernize its core banking engine and digital infrastructure.

Deutsche Bank has partnered with core banking provider Thought Machine to upgrade the technology infrastructure powering its German retail operations.

Under a global licensing agreement, the bank will adopt Thought Machine’s cloud-native Vault Core platform as the cornerstone of its retail modernization strategy.

By isolating product logic from the underlying cloud infrastructure, Vault Core enables Deutsche Bank to launch new products faster and seamlessly integrate artificial intelligence features into its operations.

Development is currently underway with testing scheduled for late 2026.

The existing infrastructure and the new platform will initially operate in parallel, followed by a phased product migration starting in 2027.

Designed to prevent operational disruptions, the phased rollout in Germany ensures uninterrupted service throughout the migration process.

“Overhauling our core banking landscape represents one of the most critical technology transformations currently taking place within the Private Bank.
Vault Core delivers a modern, cloud-native foundation that boosts operational resilience, scalability, and flexibility,”Christian Rhino, Chief Information Officer at Deutsche Bank said.

Paul Taylor, CEO of Thought Machine also stated “Deutsche Bank is setting a clear precedent for how major international institutions can modernize their core infrastructure.
Replacing fragmented legacy systems with a modern architecture gives the bank the real-time capabilities required to streamline operations, enhance reliability, and deliver superior customer experiences at scale. We are thrilled to launch this decade-long partnership.”
