Announced ahead of the association’s 72nd anniversary, the new multi-purpose card is designed to modernize trade operations, improve member identification and provide built-in banking features.
The customized identity card serves as both an official professional badge and a fully functional Access Bank ATM card. To use the financial features, members must hold an account with Access Bank allowing them to make payments, carry out everyday transactions, and withdraw cash across all banking platforms and ATMs nationwide.
Every card features embedded biometric details allowing ANLCA to verify the identity of practitioners operating within Nigeria’s ports, borders and maritime sector.
Speaking at a press briefing at the association’s secretariat in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, ANLCA Vice President Prince Segun Oduntan outlined the key details and scope of the initiative. He noted that the card will be formally unveiled on September 29, 2026 during ANLCA’s 72nd anniversary celebration at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
Oduntan emphasized that the card is strictly intended for professional identification and financial convenience confirming that it will not be used for internal union elections.
He also clarified that possessing the card does not replace standard membership requirements, as members remain fully responsible for paying their regular association dues.

The partnership is part of a broader drive by ANLCA leadership to transform the association into a fully modern, tech-driven organization.
As part of this shift, ANLCA’s national hall in Lagos now serves as an official training center for the National Single Window initiative, where thousands of customs agents receive ongoing digital education.
The association also conducts regular professional development sessions in partnership with the World Customs Organization (WCO) ensuring that knowledge gained at the national level is passed down to local chapters nationwide. ANLCA leaders noted that these efforts are raising professional standards across the industry and attracting a new generation of university graduates to the freight forwarding sector.
