Google announced that users in the U.S. can now change their Gmail address without starting over or losing access to their emails and other data. To use the feature, go to Google Account settings, then Personal info > Email > Google Account email, and tap “Change Google Account email” to begin.
Users can change their Gmail username once every 12 months, and the new address cannot be deleted during that period. Existing emails will remain intact, and the old email will function as an alternate address, allowing sign-ins with either address.
The feature was previously rolling out in some Hindi-speaking regions, and Google says it is gradually expanding availability, so not all users will see it immediately.
