United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has announced a major leadership transition with the appointment of Mr. Emmanuel N. Nnorom as the new Group Chairman.
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has officially named Emmanuel N. Nnorom as its new Group Chairman succeeding Tony Elumelu, CFR effective August 21, 2026. The transition follows Elumelu’s completion of the maximum 12-year board tenure limit mandated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The decision marks a significant milestone in the institution’s ongoing journey as one of the continent’s leading pan-African financial institutions.
Mr. Nnorom, a seasoned business leader and accomplished chartered accountant with over four decades of professional experience brings a wealth of expertise and institutional memory to the role.
Mr. Nnorom’s association with UBA spans over eight years of key executive leadership. During his tenure, he served MD/CEO of UBA Africa, Group COO, Group CFO and CEO of Transcorp.
His deep familiarity with UBA’s operations, governance and long-term vision positions him uniquely to steer the financial group toward its next phase of pan-African and global expansion.
