Truecaller Hits 500 Million Monthly Users

Sweden-based caller ID app Truecaller announced it has reached 500 million monthly active users, including 150 million outside its largest market, India, which accounts for over 350 million users. The platform added 50 million users in 2025, doubling its user base over the past five years. More than 4 million people subscribe to Truecaller’s paid plans.

CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala highlighted the growing need for protection against spam, scams, and unwanted communication. He emphasized the company’s focus on smarter technology and new capabilities to safeguard users before, during, and after every call or message, with a long-term goal of reaching 1 billion users.

Truecaller has been expanding beyond caller ID, launching features like family group call administration to prevent scams, and testing AI to screen and answer calls. The company is also exploring AI to automatically flag suspicious disconnected calls, such as “digital arrest” scams. In India, Truecaller faces challenges from the Caller Name Presentation system, which displays the caller’s registered network name.
