Stancer Kicks Off European Expansion with Strategic Launch in Italy

French fintech Stancer, backed by iliad Group, enters the Italian market, offering commission-based, no-fee payment solutions for SMEs and freelancers.

Stancer launches in Italy, bringing its flexible, no-subscription payment ecosystem to Italian SMEs and freelancers.

Stancer, the burgeoning European fintech player and subsidiary of the Iliad Group, has officially initiated its international expansion with a strategic launch in Italy. Announced in Milan on April 15, 2026, the move marks the company’s first major step outside its home market of France, targeting Italy’s high density of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and independent professionals.

Empowering the “Entrepreneurial Fabric”

Italy represents one of Europe’s most significant opportunities for digital payment disruption. According to the 2026 Community Cashless Society report, Italy has seen a massive surge in digital adoption, with cashless transactions exceeding €500 billion, accounting for nearly 47% of total consumer spending.

Stancer’s entry is specifically tailored to this shifting landscape. Under the leadership of Alberto Rescigno, General Manager for Stancer Italy, the company is positioning itself as a transparent alternative to traditional banking institutions. Its primary goal is to lower the barrier to entry for digital payments for Italian freelancers, small merchants, and e-commerce operators who have historically been deterred by high fixed costs and complex contracts.

A Tech-First, “No-Strings” Ecosystem

At the core of Stancer’s offering is a proprietary payment infrastructure designed for flexibility. Key features of the Italian launch include:

  • Zero Subscription Fees: Eliminating fixed monthly costs, long-term commitments, and hidden subscriptions.

  • Omnichannel Solutions: Providing an integrated ecosystem that supports online e-commerce payments, physical Payment Terminals (TPE), and mobile-first solutions.

  • Tap to Pay on Android: Enabling small merchants to accept contactless payments directly on their smartphones without needing additional hardware.

  • Transparent Pricing: A simple commission-based model (starting as low as 0.7% + €0.15 per transaction) aimed at helping small businesses grow without predictable overhead.

The Iliad Group Synergy

As part of the Iliad Group, the telecom giant known for disrupting the mobile market in France and Italy, Stancer benefits from a 100% European infrastructure and significant operational scale. The company already processes over 250,000 transactions daily in France, and it seeks to replicate that volume in Italy by leveraging the group’s existing brand trust and digital expertise.

“Stancer’s offering fits into a context where Italian businesses are seeking more concrete, effective, and transparent services,” noted Rescigno during the launch. By removing the “constraints” typical of the payment industry, Stancer aims to foster a more inclusive digital economy.

Future Outlook

The Italian launch is just the beginning of a broader European roadmap. Stancer plans to solidify its presence in Italy through targeted local partnerships with banks, trade associations, and technology platforms. As the European payments landscape continues to consolidate, Stancer’s focus on proprietary technology and merchant-centric flexibility may well establish it as a leading contender against established giants like Adyen or Stripe in the Mediterranean region.
