Revolut, the UK-headquartered global fintech, has officially secured its final operating banking license (Licencia de Funcionamiento) from Colombia’s Financial Superintendence (SFC).
British financial technology giant Revolut has officially secured a banking license in Colombia clearing the final regulatory requirement needed to offer full digital banking services in the South American country.
Following the approval from Colombian banking authorities, the digital bank plans to officially start its operations in the country in 2027.
To support its upcoming launch, Revolut announced an additional investment of $62 million in Colombia. The new capital doubles its initial financial commitment to the market and will be used to build digital banking infrastructure and expand its local operations.
The licensing approval marks a major milestone in Revolut’s wider global expansion, allowing the fintech company to establish a fully regulated banking presence in Latin America.

Revolut currently serves more than 80 million customers worldwide. Demand in Colombia is already strong, with nearly 200,000 local users signed up on a waiting list to join the platform once operations go live.
By securing a full banking license rather than operating under a limited financial permit, Revolut will be able to offer a comprehensive suite of digital banking, savings and payment services directly to Colombian consumers when it officially launch.
