Hubtel Joins MoMo Fintech Lab as Official Technology Partner to Scale Ghanaian Innovation

Ghana’s payment and technology provider Hubtel has joined forces with Mobile Money Fintech Limited (MMFL) as the Official Technology Partner for the 2026 MoMo Fintech Lab.  

Hubtel has joined forces with Mobile Money Fintech Limited (MMFL) as the Official Technology Partner for the 2026 MoMo Fintech Lab. The initiative will deploy hackathons, mentorship and incubation programs across Accra, Kumasi and Tamale to scale early-stage Ghanaian fintech innovations.

Under the partnership, Hubtel will serve as the Official Technology Partner for the 2026 MoMo Fintech Lab, driving a three-month national program aimed at mentoring, incubating, and scaling early-stage Ghanaian fintech startups.

The three-month initiative officially launched on August 12, 2026, at the Accra Marriott Hotel. Highlighting the launch was a four-person executive delegation from Hubtel including Nana Owusu-Marfo (Head of Brand & UX), Francis Wilson (Head of Infrastructure & Payments), Patrick Asare-Frimpong (Head of Product Management) and Augustine Gyawu Adjei (Head of Engineering) who joined policymakers, tech founders and ecosystem stakeholders to inaugurate the program.

The three-month rollout isn’t just staying in Accra by hitting Kumasi and Tamale, the program gives developers across Ghana a clear pipeline from hackathons and incubation straight to a major national Demo Day showcase.

Hubtel will deploy its engineering, payment processing and product design capabilities to help participating teams translate early-stage ideas into scalable digital finance applications across Ghana.

Highlighted by Head of Brand and User Experience Nana Owusu-Marfo, Hubtel’s primary goal is bridging the gap between raw innovation and commercial execution by offering hands-on mentorship from seasoned industry builders.

Minister Sam George emphasized that Ghana has the talent to build global tech provided investors step up with real, long-term funding once Demo Day wraps up.

“You can’t be treating tech startups the way you treat an industrial business,” he said, arguing that technology businesses need patient capital.

MMFL CEO Shaibu Haruna emphasized that the MoMo Fintech Lab represents a long-term commitment to deepening Ghana’s digital ecosystem a goal directly aligned with Hubtel’s mission to help local builders develop inclusive market-ready financial technology.

“For us to build an inclusive digital economy, we need everybody and every talent to come on board,” he said.

Hubtel framed its participation as a strategic effort to foster industry collaboration, betting that hands-on guidance from market leaders will help early-stage startups transform raw product concepts into commercial solutions.
