Global technology giant Google has expanded its smart Gemini artificial intelligence platform by introducing specialized tools designed specifically for lawyers and law firms.
The new software package, called Gemini Enterprise for Legal, helps legal workers automatically review long contracts, check legal references, summarize lengthy court documents, and draft basic legal filings.
By handling routine administrative tasks, the smart platform allows lawyers to spend less time reading background paperwork and more time giving strategic advice to their clients. Importantly, the system keeps private client secrets and law firm data completely secure from outside eyes.
The new technology product was officially unveiled by Google Cloud on August 25, 2026. The global announcement marks a major move by technology companies to bring artificial intelligence directly into specialized professional industries.
Major international law firms, including Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, Weil Gotshal, and Williams & Connolly, have already started using and testing the new software across their offices.

Explaining how the software helps legal teams handle demanding office tasks securely, Google Cloud Chief Executive Officer Thomas Kurian stated that “Gemini Enterprise for Legal helps manage the complex realities of modern legal work, while simultaneously providing critical grounding and governance capabilities that allow teams to confidently focus on strategic counsel”.
Detailing why clients are encouraging law firms to adopt modern technology to speed up work, Weil Gotshal co-managing partner Jonathon Soler noted in an interview that clients increasingly expect their lawyers to be using AI and taking advantage of its efficiencies.
