Fidelity Bank Expands Food CSR Initiative, Reaching Over 1,000 Families Across Kogi State

Fidelity Bank has expanded its nationwide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign by delivering food relief packages to over 1,000 vulnerable households across Kogi State.

Fidelity Bank Plc has extended its Fidelity Food Bank Initiative to Kogi State distributing essential food items to over 1,000 vulnerable families to help combat food insecurity.

The outreach was held at the Youth Centre in the Kogi State capital of Lokoja as part of a nationwide campaign demonstrating the bank’s commitment to driving positive social impact across Nigerian communities.

Since its April 2023 launch, the Fidelity Food Bank has reached hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries across Nigeria delivering essential aid to families navigating economic hardship while supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 for Zero Hunger.

Speaking at the event, Blessing Onwumere the Regional Bank Head for North Central II at Fidelity Bank Plc highlighted that the outreach is one of the institution’s most far-reaching Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects to date.

She explained that the programme was created to alleviate hunger and uplift underserved communities reflecting Fidelity Bank’s core belief that corporate entities must actively invest in the well-being of the society around them.

Onwumere also said that the Lokoja distribution went beyond simply sharing food describing it as an effort to uplift families and build community resilience. She noted that over 1,000 beneficiaries received essential supplies while expressing gratitude to the host community the Abbasid Foundation and other partners for helping execute the initiative.

Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo who was represented by Water Resources Commissioner Engr. Yahaya Faruk, praised Fidelity Bank’s initiative as a standout demonstration of corporate citizenship. He noted that the bank’s support for vulnerable women and youths complements ongoing state welfare efforts, promising a supportive environment for responsible businesses to thrive and urging other corporations to follow suit.

Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe commended the bank for its timely support, expressing a desire for continued partnership to benefit local youths. Speaking for the recipients, Zainab Abubakar shared her gratitude noting that the relief package provided vital support for her family and renewed hope within the community.
