The Federal Government has moved the authentication and evaluation of academic qualifications fully online, ending the need for applicants to visit the Federal Ministry of Education physically for the process.
The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa said the digital system is part of efforts to modernise its services, reduce delays and make the verification of academic credentials easier for Nigerians at home and abroad.
Under the new system, applicants can create an account, submit their applications, upload required documents and track the progress of their requests through the ministry’s Evaluation and Accreditation System portal.
The ministry’s official portal also allows applicants to apply for authentication of Nigerian qualifications for use abroad and evaluation of foreign qualifications for use in Nigeria, including for employment, further studies and other official purposes.
The Federal Ministry of Education first announced the full automation of the process in April, saying applicants would no longer be required to visit its offices for physical verification.
Applicants are required to upload clear copies of their supporting documents and pay the applicable non-refundable fees through Remita.
For applications requiring academic transcripts, the applicant’s awarding institution must send the official transcript directly to the ministry from its official email address. The current portal states that transcripts sent by applicants or from personal email accounts will not be accepted.

The system also provides online verification for WAEC and NECO results through their respective APIs, using the required verification PIN.
The ministry said the digital process is expected to improve the management of academic records, reduce bureaucratic delays and strengthen the integrity of credential verification.
The service covers more than certificate authentication. Applicants can also use the platform to seek eligibility or proficiency letters and letters of no objection for qualifying education-related applications.
The ministry’s current instructions direct applicants to access the service through its official Evaluation and Accreditation System portal, where they can register and begin their applications online.
