The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a major step to help young tech professionals find work. Through the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program, the government has teamed up with Hello.cv, a top tech profiling platform, in a partnership worth over $10 million.
This new deal is all about moving from just “learning” to actually “earning.”
What is the $10M Partnership About?
The main goal of this partnership is to make Nigerian tech talents visible to big companies around the world. While many Nigerians are learning coding, data analysis, and other digital skills, they often struggle to get noticed by international employers.
Hello.cv uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help people build professional profiles that stand out.
Key Benefits for 3MTT Fellows
The government is targeting 20,000 fellows from the 3MTT program for the first phase of this project. Each of these people will get a professional package worth $500, completely for free.
Here is what the selected fellows will receive:
• A Personal Website: Each person gets a custom .cv domain name (like yourname.cv) to show off their work.
• Professional Help: Access to expert CV writers to polish their resumes.
• AI Job Search: An AI agent that helps find and apply for jobs that match their skills.
• Global Visibility: Their profiles will be put in front of recruiters from top global tech companies.
“Global Profile Week”
To get things started, the partners launched Global Profile Week. This is a special time where 3MTT fellows are guided on how to create the perfect tech profile.
The government wants to make sure that when a company in the UK, USA, or Lagos is looking for a developer, a Nigerian name is at the top of the list.
Why This Matters
The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, explained that it isn’t enough to just teach people how to use a computer.
“We have shown that we can train people at scale. Now, we must ensure those skills are seen, valued, and rewarded.”
By giving young Nigerians the tools to market themselves, the government hopes to turn Nigeria into a “powerhouse” for tech talent, bringing more foreign money into the country and reducing unemployment.
