Meta has begun testing a premium subscription on Instagram called Instagram Plus in a few countries. The subscription gives users access to exclusive features, two months after Meta announced plans to test subscriptions across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
Premium features include viewing Stories without the poster knowing, seeing how many people rewatched your Story, creating unlimited audience lists for Stories, extending a Story for an extra 24 hours, spotlighting a Story once per week, sending animated “Superlikes,” and searching Story viewers for specific people.
Reports indicate testing is happening in Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines, with monthly pricing around $2.20 USD in Mexico, $2 USD in Japan, and $1.07 USD in the Philippines. Instagram Plus is separate from Meta Verified, which targets creators and businesses.
Meta will continue testing the subscription before a wider rollout.
