The Federal Government has extended the application period for the National Digital Economy Research Clusters under Project BRIDGE.

The programme, supported by an estimated ₦12 billion investment, was first announced in November 2025 and is designed to mobilise university-led research consortia to generate policy-relevant insights to guide Nigeria’s digital transformation.

“Due to the strong interest from institutions across the country, we are extending the application deadline for the National Digital Economy Research Clusters under Project BRIDGE,” Tijani says.

He also urges stakeholders within the academic and research ecosystem to utilise the extended window.

If you are part of a university or research team, you now have until Monday, April 27, 2026, to finalize and submit your application.

Why the Extra Time?

Because so many institutions expressed interest, the government is extending the deadline to give everyone enough time to build strong, high-quality research teams. This program is a major part of Nigeria’s plan to use data-driven research to guide the future of our digital economy.

Focus Areas

The government is looking for research that tackles real-world challenges in these six categories:

• Connectivity: Improving internet access for all.

• Digital Public Infrastructure: Creating the foundation for our digital services.

• Skills & Inclusion: Ensuring all Nigerians have the digital skills they need.

• Economic Growth: Using tech to create more jobs.

• Trust & Safety: Protecting users online.

• Artificial Intelligence: Finding smart ways to use AI for national development.
